Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), astrónomo, matemático, físico y filósofo italiano, uno de los responsables de la revolución científica, entre sus logros están la mejora del telescopio con el que estudia la Luna, la Vía Láctea, las lunas de Júpiter, las fases de Venus o las manchas del Sol, y sus descubrimientos le llevarían a convencerse de la veracidad del heliocentrismo copernicano, que le costaría el famoso juicio de la Inquisición y su castigo.
